About

IMG_1810 John P. McNutt is a self-employed advertising, marketing and public relations consultant based in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He is a formally trained, award winning graphic designer and illustrator who received his B.S. in Visual Arts and Graphic Design from Auburn University in 1995. He has run his own full-service “creative ideas” shop since December, 2001.

A former ice hockey player, John is fluent in two languages – English and profanity. Upon graduating high school in 1987 from Shades Valley in Birmingham, where he was voted “the guy most likely no one will remember at our 20th high school reunion”, he traveled to upstate New York to make a run at collegiate level ice hockey. It was a successful venture. Returning to Alabama 3 years later to finish school, he traveled to Auburn University for the very first time, and decided it was “home”.

John has always been interested in art, color, drawing and mechanical things, but after going over the class syllabus for entry into mechanical engineering at Auburn with the department head – they collectively agreed that being an art major seemed like a perfect fit for him. He managed to make it out of Auburn with a degree, a wife (Stacey), and his first son, Patrick. His second son, Zackary came soon after and then, well, they grew up. Patrick is 32 and Zackary is now 28. He is blessed with 3 beautiful granddaughters – Hazel (4), Sophie (2) and Ava (1).

He has extensive experience in communication, branding and brand awareness within public and private business arenas. He has clients locally, regionally and nationally. If you have a question or a need, contact him today. He loves to do new things.

By the way… almost everyone remembered him at his 20th high school reunion.

Services

  • creativity Studies of highly creative people have shown that many have a strong interest in apparent disorder, contradiction, and imbalance... and that intelligence has little correlation with creativity. Go figure.
  • graphic design Visual elements—such as typography, images, symbols, and colors—convey a message to an audience. Thus graphic design is sometimes called “visual communications."
  • marketing Marketing was once all about increasing sales through advertising and other promotional techniques. Now, marketers focus on product development, customer support, corporate communications, and more.
  • brand awareness Brand awareness—the extent to which the consumer associates a brand with a type of product—is an essential part of brand development which helps the brand to stand out from the others in this monopolistically competitive market.
  • web & e-commerce From concept to design to finished product. Web sites and e-stores should be more than just a pretty face - security, ease of use, and easy manageability are all key.
